the Shielding Community Project
The Shielding Community Project is a free 6-week interactive support group for the disabled community of the North East, Cumbria and Cleveland UK.
We will be running an open Facebook group and a weekly Zoom meeting.
The project is open to those with disabilities, people supporting those with disabilities and organisations who provide services to there community.

the "ability North" Project
The “Ability North” project is a series of free 1-1 personal training programmes for people of the North East of England.
It is focussed at those with disabilities, medical conditions, those suffering with depression and anxiety.
This is an exciting collaboration with the brilliant charity Disability North, and will be held at the Dene Centre in Gosforth Newcastle Upon Tyne.
The project will consist of resistance and cardiovascular based training using a variety of specialist & functional equipment, free weights, resistance bands and medicine balls. The training is specific to the individuals goals and needs, with tailored workouts.
The aim of the project is to help people of the disabled community and those with mental challenges improve their health, fitness and wellbeing through exercise.
Training is held on Mondays and Fridays 10.00-14.30. Participants must be 16 and over.

the shielding fitness project
The Shielding Fitness Project is a series of free 24-week remote personal training programmes for people with disabilities in England.
This project is a brilliant opportunity for those who are currently shielding due to the threat of the coronavirus to get active and keep active throughout the winter period.
Our aim is to tackle the negative effects to health, fitness and wellbeing brought on by the lack of activity and isolation for those shielding with disabilities.
We have 24 spaces available and have a start date set for November 3rd.
The training programmes will cater for wheelchair users and those with mobility issues due to medical conditions.
Sessions will be held entirely over video call on the following days/times:
- Tuesdays = 10.00-18.00
- Wednesdays = 10.00-14.00
- Thursdays = 10.00-18.00
- You must be 16 and over
- You must reside in England
- Adequate space to exercise in your home is essential.
- Equipment is required in the form of handled resistance bands to be used with a doorframe, and light free weights.
- Access to internet connection and zoom video is essential (Desktop/Laptop version best option for connection)
Please note clearance from a medical professional may be requested for participation in exercise
